Fatima Bhutto

A True Bhutto

Fatima Bhutto – She is my Bhutto

Fatima Bhutto is a prominent Pakistani writer, journalist, and political activist known for her insightful writings and her family’s deep involvement in Pakistani politics. Born on May 29, 1982, in Kabul, Afghanistan, Fatima is the granddaughter of Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and the niece of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto. She is also the granddaughter of Begum Nusrat Bhutto, who played a significant role in Pakistan’s political landscape.

Fatima Bhutto spent much of her early life in exile, living abroad due to the political turmoil and persecution faced by her family in Pakistan. She received her education from prestigious institutions such as Columbia University and the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) in London.

As a writer, Fatima Bhutto has authored several books that explore themes such as politics, identity, and social justice. Her notable works include “Songs of Blood and Sword: A Daughter’s Memoir,” a memoir that delves into her family’s political legacy, tragedies, and personal journey. In this memoir, she offers a candid and often critical perspective on her family’s role in Pakistani politics and society.

Fatima Bhutto is also known for her novels, including “The Shadow of the Crescent Moon” and “The Runaways.” These works of fiction explore various facets of Pakistani society, such as the impact of political violence, religious extremism, and social inequality on individuals and families.

In addition to her writing career, Fatima Bhutto is an outspoken activist and commentator on political and social issues in Pakistan and the wider world. She has been a vocal critic of corruption, authoritarianism, and human rights abuses in Pakistan, often using her platform to advocate for justice and reform.

Fatima Bhutto’s life and work are emblematic of her family’s enduring legacy and her own commitment to using her voice to shine a light on the challenges facing her country and its people. She continues to be a prominent figure in Pakistani public life, admired for her intellect, courage, and unwavering dedication to truth and justice.

  3. Yes, FATIMA is the only hope for Pakistan from Bhutto family- she is the real Bhutto by blood and intellect. I am a regular reader of her articles and it’s hard to believe that she can have this oservation and intellect to write these articles in a her young age. Her writings are based on very facts and concern of the welfare of masses is remarkable. But before she walks in to the real field of politics, she has a lot of chalenges to face. Intellectual like Dr. Mubasher Hasan could be a very dependable guide but do not have enogh votes which counts in democracy and the people who have votes are not dependable at all. So please Fatima, take care of yourself first and then politics. We do not want to lose you for nothing. You can lead but lead the nation carefully and wisely. My comment is on the people who wrote all these comments.Because what you all wrote here is not about Fatima it’s about Bhutto-ism in Pakistan and a blind faith on the family and politics. You people will never change and your fate is i have no idea maybe worse. God save Pakistan!

  9. A Butto family member with a token college degree from a western college trying hard to get into politics for personal gain. Benazir Bhutto, her aunt is a good example. They have many millions in their bank acct, luxury residence in Dubai, London and Pakistan. Where do you think this money came from? Obviously from the Pakistani Treasury, STOLEN!!!! Be careful another coniving, calculating family member trying hard to wiggle her way up.

  25. i never was a fan of any BHUTTO, infact, i despised them more than anything and anyone else in Pakistan. From the dirty policies, lavish wastage of public money (which the bhuttos think they have a divine right to loot and plunder) and the ever so rampant corruption and ignorance of merit in ever matter related to the dealings of the state, its all there. However, seeing the conduct of Fatima Bhutto, the way she talks, her inquisitive nature and learned personality,i am humbled into admitting that this is the one bhutto that actually can and wants to do something for this country, which, by the way, is in dire need of a real LEADER, a leader who truly understands that “silence is the loudest cry for help”.

  27. It’s most certainly quite interesting to see so many lame comments made by our country’s beloved lay-people and the infamous stalkers who try desperately to get personally in-touch with you, one way or the other. It is however quite sad that your modest quest of bringing out ‘the truth’ about Pakistan’s political, social and economic situation goes over the heads of more than half of the imbeciles who post on your site to gain attention in the hope of winning a chance to personally communicate with you.
On a more serious note, i am an avid critic of Pakistan’s political scenario, which of course is my personal opinion not expressed in any form in public, but i sure wouldn’t mind starting to write about it.
I find you quite brave and in a way admire your courage to talk about the truth in such a bold manner, it gives me great comfort to see that we as Pakistanis have some know-how of how things should be done. Until and unless someone voices their opinion stating facts against the ‘evil establishment’ of our suffering country and countrymen, no one will ever know the truth and the severity of the mess we are forced to dwell in.
In the history of the civilized man only two nations were created purely for one reason only that being religion, Pakistan and Israel. It is quite ironic that even Israel suffers from a corrupt regime of sexually driven maniacs who some how always seem to end up in some sort of a sex scandal. And as for Pakistan our leaders are notorious for being mass murders, con-artists, alcoholics, narcissists, psychologically challenged, short-sighted and in desperate pursuit to deprive their nation with the most basic amenities of life such as water, food and electricity.
While both these countries have a common reason for them coming about into existence, they share another commonality, both are in the most sense that you can make out of the word ‘OWNED’ by the United States. Both are apparent self-proclaimed democracies, but both lack the essence of the philosophy of it. Democracy is a fairly new style of government unsuccessful in most of the regimes it is practiced in, i don’t say that the system is at fault, but what i do say is that average man of Pakistan simply lacks the basics to be able to make the simple choice of choosing its governing body. Reason being lack of education and a divided education system, which separates not only the youth but the whole of Pakistan and creates an artificial barrier amongst the differing educated systems ‘youth’. By creating these artificial new classes we divide our people based on income levels, so we on one hand we have the ‘moderate’ Pakistanis who send their children to the Beacon House School and the likes, and then we have the Pakistanis who lack the knowledge of the benefits derived from education and how it possibly could enrich and improve their lives to a state beyond their contemplation couldn’t care less about education let alone about getting their children educated.
The problems faced by Pakistan are so severe in nature that i personally don’t see this country being able to pull itself out of this unless their comes about a great revolution, the likes of which no Pakistani has ever seen. A complete change, a thorough promise to honestly govern and benefit the people of Pakistan. A new vision to become a welfare state, a secular government one that isn’t fueled by the hate of extremists or ‘wanna-be’ so called religious Molanas who pretend to be the purest of the pure, who are corrupt and vile. Individuals who scar the face of religion, humanity and integrity just so that they can drive around in Land Cruisers with an army of bodyguards boasting their social status and power in front of the weak and helpless.

I think i have managed in fair view to point out the cause of our demise and of my personal opinion about our nation.

    God Bless!

courageously read the autobiography of the
shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto (The great leader
of Pakistan democracy) and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto! I was fascinated and absorbed by the shear drama and political tragedy that had
occurred in the sub continent.I was in Islamabad in G-9/4 in 1977 when I happened
to see the events of the Great Leader and when my father was posted to London in 1979
through Foreign Office I still was confused
of what exactly did happen. I live in Purley
surrey and graduated from Kingston University
in 1988 undergoing a satellite project.
I then went to oxford city where I went through the notion or life Mr Bhutto underwent!Through my knowledge Mr Bhutto was awarded the Oxford presidency or was it Ms Bhutto? Anyway I worked in London where my
sisters were employed as investment bankers
in ANZ and salomons. I am on the path of buying your latest book “songs of Blood & sword and reding it through the new year 2011. I also have a property business in Purley and am very much will be thrilled and
excited if you ever come to England we can meet somewhere and if this is possible that would be a privelege. My number is 0208 671 5454 0r 0208 763 2267 and I live with my parents and sister!

All the Best for the future

    Many Thanks

    Yours Truly

  75. I always entreat my cordial duas for Fatima Murtaza Bhutto and Zulfiqar Ali jr May turn out to be the premier of Pakistan , it’s the preeminent manner to consecrate them for the sniffle they had had in verve ever since they are in Bhutto kin.
My sister lives closer to 70 Clifton whenever I visits her, I always stops at the gate and Place flowers for Murtaza Bhutto , and I always lights Candles on his birthday to the same point. I was in Mideast Hospital the time firing carnage happened and Mir Murtaza was taken into hospital… very hurt moments and whenever it reminds me it make my night awakes.
Im not a political, feudal etc background but I love The Bhutto’s and Now Fatima and Zulfiqar are my thoughts.

With love for my sister alike Fatima and Brother alike Zulfiqar,
    Shahzad Abbas Shah

  76. Dear Fatima Bhuto, what are your ideas about businesses and earning money? For example , in 1980 , one person made his mill , then in 2000 , he has his 6 mills and businesses. One person is Karoor Pati. He purchased Prize bonds , and now his the owner of 8 Karoor rupees.

So one boy gave test for being a Model of Pepsi. The Pepsi Cola company accepted him , now , he has popularity, Car , Residence and an investment account.

One Film of Reveena of India and any hero , gives so much amount to the Producer.

so please tell some thing about it.

    Thank you.
